Users and Groups

On the VaultAdmin Users and Groups tab, you can add, modify, or delete users and groups.

  • SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM is distributed with three users: pdmwadmin, user_r, and user_w. The password for user_r and user_w is pdmworks. The password for the administrator account is pdmwadmin. The administrator account has access to all administrative functions, but the two user accounts only have access as clients to the Sample project. For security reasons, we recommend that you change the password for the administrator as soon as possible.
  • User names are case-insensitive.
  • Passwords are case sensitive and encrypted.
  • Users can belong to any number of groups. Users are given the highest access possible, so if users are given read-only access in one group but write access in another group, they have write access. However, specific user privilege takes precedence over any access granted to a group. For example, if a group is given write access and a user who is a member of the group is specifically given read only access, the user has only read access.
