Changing the State of Files
You can associate files in the vault with a pre-determined workflow
process that moves the files through a design and approval process. You
need to change the state of a file to move it through the workflow process.
The state transitions that are available to you depend on the workflow
designed by your administrator. An administrator can configure dynamic
notifications for a transition. For transitions with dynamic notifications,
you can enter notification comments and select recipients when you change
a file's state. An administrator can also specify that you submit your
password for some transitions.
To change the state of files:
Either in Enterprise PDM or the Enterprise PDM
add-in pane within SolidWorks, select the files, right-click and select
Change State and a state transition.
The Do Transition
dialog box displays information about the files, including referenced
files.
Enter
a comment to store within the file history that relates to the change
state operation.
For
state transitions with dynamic notifications, enter a Notification comment
and select notification
recipients from the list.
To change the options of the Do Transition
dialog box, right-click in the dialog box and select options, or click
in the Change State column for individual files.
A check mark in the Change State
column applies the state transition to selected items. Clearing the Change State
column for selected items does not apply the state transition to those
items.
For
state transitions that require authentication, type your Enterprise PDM
password.
Click OK.
