Appearance Folders

The appearance library includes multiple folders organized by similar appearances such as Metal/Steel. Each appearance includes thumbnail previews in the Task Pane and in the Color/Image tab of the Appearances PropertyManager.

The thumbnail preview differs by appearance type:

Appearance icons that include an appearance icon folder in the lower right corner designate category defaults. To minimize navigation, the default appearances are available at higher levels in the folder tree and within their own category. For example, Polished Steel is available in Metal and in Metal > Steel.

The main folders and sub-folders of the Appearance Library include:

  • Plastic. Varieties of high gloss, textured, clear plastic, satin finish, EDM, patterned, composite, and mesh.

  • Metal. Varieties of steel, chrome, aluminum, bronze, brass, copper, nickel, zinc, magnesium, iron, titanium, tungsten, gold, silver, platinum, lead, and galvanized.

  • Painted. Car, sprayed, powder coat.

  • Rubber. Matte, gloss, texture.

  • Glass. Gloss and textured.

  • Lights. Emissive appearances.

  • Fabric. Varieties of cloth (cottons, canvas, burlap) and carpet.

  • Organic. Varieties of wood (ash, cherry, etc.), water (still and rippled), sky (clear and cloudy), and miscellaneous (leather, sand, etc.).

  • Stone. Varieties of paving (asphalt, concrete, etc.), stoneware (Bone china, ceramic, etc.), brick (weathered, fire, etc.), and architectural (granite, marble, etc.).

  • Miscellaneous. Studio appearances and patterns.

The RealView Only Appearances folder includes the cosmetic hole pattern used to create cosmetic pattern features.
