Pro/ENGINEER Add-in

The SolidWorks Enterprise add-in for Pro/ENGINEER lets you access source control and workflow tools without using Windows Explorer.

Configuration

The Enterprise PDM add-in is automatically activated in Pro/ENGINEER when it has been installed and configured.

To configure a 2010 Pro/E vault:

  1. In the SolidWorks Enterprise PDM Administration tool, in the left pane, right-click the archive server and click Create New Vault.

  2. Use the Create New Vault wizard screens to name and configure the vault.

For more information, click Help on the wizard screens.

  1. On the Configure vault screen, select Use a standard configuration.

  2. From the drop-down list, select Default and click Next.

  3. On the Select configuration details screen, under Add-ins, select Pro/ENGINEER Save File Enabler.

  4. Under Cards, select Pro/ENGINEER and click Next.

  5. Click Finish.

  6. Click Close.

The AddRenamer add-in and the ProE file cards are added to the new vault.

To configure a pre-2010 Pro/E vault:

  1. Click Start, All Programs, SolidWorks Enterprise PDM, Administration.

  2. In the SolidWorks Enterprise PDM Administration tool, log in to a vault, right-click the vault, and click Import.

  3. In the Open dialog box, navigate to <install_dir>\Default Data, select AddRenamer.caf, and click Open.

  4. Click OK.

  5. To import the ProENGINEER cards, right-click Cards and click Open Card Editor.

  6. In the Card Editor, click File, Import.

  7. In the Open dialog box, navigate to <install_dir>\Default Cards, select one of the following cards, and click Open:

ProE Assembly_gb.crd
ProE Default_gb.crd
ProE Drawing_gb.crd
ProE Part_gb.crd

  1. Save the card to the vault.

  2. Repeat steps 6 through 8 to import the other Pro/ENGINEER cards.

  3. Repeat steps 1 through 9 for each pre-2010 Pro/ENGINEER vault.

Enterprise PDM Menu

 Many options that are available from the menu are also available from the shortcut menu in the Browser.

Open Model

Select a model to open.  The Open dialog box provides a view of the files that is similar to the Windows Explorer file view.

This view is not displayed if you open an Enterprise PDM document from the Pro/ENGINEER File menu.

Get Latest Version

Retrieve the latest version of the file from the archive.

Check Out

Check out the file for editing.

Check In

Check in the file with your changes.

Undo Check Out

Cancel a check out without saving changes.

Properties

Display the data card for the Enterprise PDM file.

View Tree in Browser

Open the Browser to a tree view of the active file.

Enterprise Browser View

The Enterprise PDM view in the Browser displays a hierarchical tree of components of the currently displayed document. This tree displays the structural relationships between the top assembly, drawings, subassemblies and parts.

If the Browser is not available in your version of Pro/E, the information is displayed in a separate dialog box.

Enterprise PDM Variables

The following variables are displayed for a selected file:

Local Version

x / n, where x is the current version loaded into Pro/ENGINEER and n is the total number of versions stored locally. The numbers x / n are displayed in bold if a newer version is available on the server.

Local Revision

The revision level assigned to the local version, for example, B .  

Checked out by

User name.

Checked out in

Location of the file that is checked out.

Workflow state

The current state of the file as defined in the workflow. (The default state is Initiated.)

Configuration

The Pro/E family of parts.

Shortcut Menu

Right-click a variable or file name in the Browser to access applicable menu functions, including:

Select All

Select all components in the tree.

Refresh Tree

Refresh the information displayed in the tree.

Collapse All

Collapse the view of the variables for all components of the currently selected file.

Expand All

Expand the view of the variables for all components of the currently selected file.

Properties

Display the data card for the Enterprise PDM file.

Check Out

Check out the file for editing.

Check In

Check in the file with your changes.
 

Undo Check Out

Cancel a check out without saving changes.

Get Latest version

Retrieve the latest version of the file from the archive.

Get

Select a version from the version list and retrieve it  from the archive server.

Add File

Add the selected file to the referenced file list (available only for files in the vault).
