Customizing an XSL Style Sheet

You can edit the XSL style sheets provided with SolidWorks 3D Instant Website. You use an XSL style sheet to merge XML content with HTML formatting to determine the appearance of your web page. A knowledge of XML and HTML is desired, but not required, to edit the XSL style sheets.

TIP: Read the comments in the default XSL style sheets. They provide assistance when editing the style sheets.

To customize an XSL style sheet:

  1. Locate the XSL style sheets (*.sldiws) provided with SolidWorks 3D Instant Website.

The default location for the XSL style sheets is in the \<installation_directory>\lang\<your_lang>\Instant Website Template folder.

  2. Open the XSL style sheet in a text editor such as Notepad.

  3. Modify the content in the style sheet. Some common tasks include the following:

NOTE: If you use non-ASCII characters in a SolidWorks .xsl style sheet, you must save the file in Unicode format. You cannot use double-byte characters.
