Result Options

The Result Options PropertyManager allows you to set options for the results for linear dynamic and nonlinear studies.

Save Results

  • For all solution steps. When checked, the program saves the results at all solution steps.

  • For specified solution steps. When checked, the program saves the results at solution steps specified in sets.

Quantity

Appears for linear dynamic studies only. Results of the following quantities are saved when selected:

  • Displacements and velocities

  • Relative (Relative to the base. Applicable to linear dynamic studies with uniform base excitation.)

  • Absolute

  • Stresses

  • PSD Stresses (Applicable to random vibration studies)

  • Reactions

Note: Acceleration quantities are always absolute. Nonlinear dynamic studies always save relative displacements and velocities.

Solution Steps - Set 1

Appears if For specified solution steps is selected.

  • Start. The first solution step number.

  • End. The last solution step number.

  • Increment. Solution step increment.

Solution Steps - Set 2

Appears if Solution Steps - Set 1 is selected. You can specify up to five sets.

Locations for Graphs

Appears if For specified solution steps is selected. Select vertices and reference points to save the results. Results are saved at every solution step.

If you do not select at least one entity, the results are saved for all nodes.

Mode Selection

Appears for linear dynamic studies only.

  • All modes. When selected, all the available normal modes participate in the dynamic solution.

  • Selected modes. When selected, you can choose the normal modes you want to include in the dynamic solution.

To select modes:

  1. Click Edit.

The Mode Selection Filter dialog appears.

  1. Under Mode No, uncheck the modes that you do not want to include in the solution.

  1. Click OK.

To save results at all solution steps:

  1. Right-click the Result Options folder, and select Edit/Define.

  2. Under Save Results, select For all solution steps.

  1. For linear dynamic studies only, under Quantity check the desired quantities to save their results.

  1. For linear dynamic studies only, under Mode Selection, do the following:

  1. Click Selected modes.

  2. Click Edit.

  3. In Mode Selection Filter, under Mode No, uncheck the modes you do not want to include in the solution.

  4. Click OK.

  1. Click .

To save results at specified solution steps:

  1. Right-click the Result Options folder, and select Edit/Define.

  2. Under Save Results, select For specified solution steps.

For linear dynamic studies only:

  1. For linear dynamic studies only, under Quantity, check the desired quantities to save their results.

  2. Under Solution Steps - Set1, set the first solution step number Start, the last solution step number End, and the solution step increment Increment.

  1. Under Locations for Graphs, select a workflow sensitive simulation data sensor where data will be saved to plot response graphs.

  1. For linear dynamic studies only, under Mode Selection, select All modes to include all available normal modes in the solution.

  1. Click .
