You cannot create driving dimensions from the COM point. However, you can create Center of Mass Reference (COMR) points, and use those points to define driving dimensions.
COMR points can be created only in parts.
A COMR point is a reference point created at the current center of mass of the part. It represents the center of mass of all the features above it in the FeatureManager design tree. Notes about COMR points:
- As you add more features to the part, the global COM point moves, but the COMR point remains at the coordinates where you created it.
- If you modify features above the COMR point in the tree, the COMR point moves to the new location of the center of mass of all the features above it.
- You can drag a COMR point to a different position in the FeatureManager design tree. In the graphics area, Center of Mass Reference Point moves to its corresponding new position.
- You can create Measurement sensors that reference COM and COMR points.
- You can examine parent/child relationships of the COMR point by right-clicking the point and clicking Parent/Child.
- You can check the effect of COM and COMR points on the rebuild time of the model by clicking .
