You can list mass participation ratios in the global X, Y, and Z directions normalized with respect to the total mass after running a frequency study.
Mass participation ratios are important in determining the adequacy of the calculated modes to solve dynamic problems with base motion. Many codes require that at least 80% of the mass of the system participates in specified directions.
To access this PropertyManager, after you run a frequency or linear dynamic study, right-click Results folder and select List Mass Participation.
Study name |
Displays the name of the active frequency study. |
Mode No. |
Displays a list of mode numbers. |
Freq (Hertz) |
Lists the resonant frequencies in Hertz. |
X direction |
Lists the mass participation ratios in the global X direction for each mode. Variable SumX stores the sum of all mass participation ratios in the X direction.
|
Y direction |
Lists the mass participation ratios in the global Y direction for each mode. Variable SumY stores the sum of all mass participation ratios in the Y direction.
|
Z direction |
Lists the mass participation ratios in the global Z direction for each mode. Variable SumZ stores the sum of all mass participation ratios in the Z direction.
