The SolidWorks Costing tool helps you calculate how much it costs to manufacture sheet metal, machined, and multibody parts by automating the cost estimation and quotation process.
Contents
You can estimate the cost of machined parts, relying on a selected template only for material selection.
You can define or override system-level costing options in the Costing Options dialog box.
With Costing, you can calculate how much it costs to manufacture multibody parts.
You can set the input values for determining the cost of manufacturing a sheet metal, machined, or custom part from the Costing Task Pane on the right side of the SolidWorks software window.
You can create reports of costing results and customize the report with your company and customer information. You can use the detailed line items in the report to determine the impact of design decisions on the cost of the part.
You can assign cost-specific custom properties to SolidWorks documents. You can add cost-specific custom properties to part files.
You can remove Costing information from parts if you want to send a file to a colleague or customer without the Costing data associated with it.
You can create a limited-access Costing template to share with other users. You can select limited-access templates in the Costing Task Pane, but you cannot view or edit them in the Costing Template Editor application.
You can generate assembly or drawing BOMs that display component costs.
