Drop Test - Options

The Drop Test dialog box sets the analysis options for drop test studies.

Results folder Lets you specify the directory to store the simulation results folder.
Large displacement When this option is checked, the program uses nonlinear large displacement formulation to solve the problem. A nonlinear solution takes more time and resources than a linear solution but gives more accurate solution. Large displacement formulation is used by default. Large displacement formulation is automatically used when a nonlinear (von Mises) material model is used in the model even if this option is not checked.
This displacement refers to the flexural displacement incurred by the body. It does not include the rigid body motion.

To specify linear/nonlinear solution:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the study icon and select Properties.
  2. In the Drop Test dialog box, you can:
    • Clear the Large displacement option to specify a linear solution (small displacement).
    • Check Large displacement to specify a nonlinear solution.
  3. Click OK.
