Table Editing Improvements

When you edit tables, performance and usability has been improved by displaying the table editing toolbar in one place, regardless of which table cells you select to edit.

In the past, when you changed cells during an editing session, the table toolbars were realigned to be left-justified with the cell you were editing. This meant that the table toolbars were repeatedly redrawn.

Now, the location of the table editing toolbar remains the same as long as you continue to edit the table. By default, the software places the table editing toolbar above the upper left corner of the table. While you can drag a toolbar to reposition it, the toolbar will remain in position as long as you continue to edit the table.

The toolbar always appears fully on the screen:

  • If the table is positioned to the far right of the screen, the toolbar aligns with the right edge of the first fully visible row of cells.
  • If the table is positioned beyond the left edge of the screen, the toolbar aligns with the left edge of the first fully visible row of cells.

In addition, when you double-click to display the table cell toolbar, a Paragraph Properties button has been added at the right end of the toolbar. This button opens the Paragraph Properties dialog box, which you can use to format the cell contents.

For more information, see Paragraph Properties.
