Creating a Template

To create a template:

  1. Click New (Standard toolbar) or File > New.
  2. Double-click the type of template that you want to create: Part, Assembly, or Drawing.
  3. Click Options Tool_Options_Standard.gif (Standard toolbar) or Tools > Options.
  4. On the Document Properties tab, select options to customize your new document template, then click OK.
    Only options on the Document Properties tab are saved in a document template.
  5. Click File > Save As.
  6. Select a template type for Save as type:
    • Part Templates (*.prtdot)
    • Assembly Templates (*.asmdot)
    • Drawing Templates (*.drwdot)
  7. Type a name for File name.
  8. Browse to a folder, then click Save.
