Downloading Appearances from the Luxology Asset Sharing Site

Some users can download appearances from the Luxology asset sharing site to use when rendering models with PhotoView 360.

The downloading of appearance files from the Luxology asset sharing site is done at your own discretion and risk, and with your agreement that you are solely responsible for any damage to your computer system or loss of data that results from such activities.

The following users can download appearances from the Luxology asset sharing site:

  • SOLIDWORKS Subscription Services Customers
  • Customers who already have a Luxology account that provides access to the assets

SOLIDWORKS Subscription Services customers can access the Luxology Asset Sharing site through the SOLIDWORKS Customer Portal. Go to solidworks.com and log in to the Customer Portal. Next, under Downloads, click PhotoView 360 Appearances, and then click the link to the Luxology Asset Sharing site.

Luxology appearances use the .lxp file extension. When you download appearances from the Luxology asset sharing site, they are stored in .zip or .lpk files.

  • If you download a .zip file, use WinZip or a similar application to extract the contents to the folder where you store custom appearances.
  • If you download a .lpk file, change the file extension to .zip and use the WinZip procedure.
If the folder where you saved the new appearance is not visible on the Appearances, Scenes, and Decals tab of the Task Pane under Appearances, then go to Tools > Options > System Options > File Locations and set the file location for Custom Appearances.

After downloading, you might have to restart SOLIDWORKS to access the appearance.

Luxology appearances have limited editing capability in SOLIDWORKS.
