You can simplify a complex assembly by using the Silhouette method in
the Defeature PropertyManager. You define groups of
bodies or components and then define a simplification method for these
groups.
Simplification methods include:
- Bounding Box
- Cylinder
- Polygon Outline
- Tight Fit Outline
- None (Copy Geometry)
The simplified geometry is saved in a part in the same way as the existing
Simplified geometry method in the Defeature
PropertyManager. If you retain a link to the parent assembly, changes to the parent
assembly change the simplified model when you update the model.
When you create a part after defeature, a folder for each defeature group shows in the FeatureManager design tree. If you select Merge groups after this step, the folder name is named
Merged. The folder contains a feature for each body generated by the
simplification.
