Insert PLC

The PLC insert command allows you to automatically insert a symbol representing part or all of a PLC. It behaves differently according to where it is launched.

Menu: Schematic > Insert PLC

When this is launched from the Schematic menu, a dialog box opens with assorted options.

If you opt to create a new PLC, the find manufacturer part dialog box opens, letting you select the manufacturer part for the PLC. This manufacturer part will automatically be added to the list of PLCs in the PLC management.

If you select the Existing PLC option, the PLC management opens, letting you select the component you wish to insert.

PLC management: Insert PLC

Select the PLC you wish to insert from the list of PLC components in the Management dialog box.

If you do not select a PLC component, the options dialog box opens, asking if you wish to create a new PLC or insert an existing PLC.

Dockable panel: Components > Insert PLC

This command is available in the contextual menu of a PLC mark. Since the PLC has been identified, the options dialog box in the previous paragraph does not open.

When this command is launched, the dockable panel displays the structure of the card or module to be inserted. The graphical area displays a dynamic symbol attached to the cursor. This is automatically created, following the channels selected in the dockable panel and the configuration associated with it.

Configuration selection

Select the configuration to be used for the representation of the module from the list.

Channel selection

This displays the list of channels (circuits) on the module. A series of icons is used to define the automatic symbol.

Filters the list of circuits. When the filter is active, only non-inserted circuits are visible.

Avoids inserting circuits that are not associated with PLC channels. (Yellow: Allows you to unselect the channels which are not inputs or outputs / Black: Allows you to select all types of circuits)

Avoids inserting macros associated with the card channels.

Defines the direction of the card symbol.

Associates channels managed in the PLC Inputs/Outputs with the circuits in the list.

Dissociates the circuit/channel associations.

Definition of columns in the list: (from left to right)

1) Displays page breaks.

2) Inserted channels (green) and non-inserted channels (blue).

3) Checkbox to select the channels to be inserted.

4) Displays circuits not attached to PLC channels.

Input/Output properties

This section displays the properties of the channel selected in the list above. (Only one channel can be selected). Certain values can be modified, such as the address, mnemonic or description. Select another macro to use by clicking on the Associated Macro box. An options dialog box opens, letting you select your own macro, among other things.
