Generic

The Generic Appearance Type simulates a range of appearances – making it possible to precisely control how light interacts with an appearance.

Parameters

Diffuse Color Sets the color of the appearance in diffuse white light.
Specular Color Sets the color of the appearance's specular highlights.
Transparency Color Sets the tint acquired by light passing through partially transparent appearances.
Diffusion Specifies how much light diffuses through partially transparent appearances.
Emission Causes the appearance to emit light into the scene.
Roughness Controls the highlight size in reflected light. The rougher the appearance, the more it diffuses the highlight (the larger and less focused the highlight becomes).
Internal Roughness Controls internal roughness that affects light refracting through the appearance instead of reflected off its surface.
IOR (Index of Refraction) Controls how appearances with transparency bend light passing through them. It indirectly affects reflectivity.
Solid Switches between two-sided verses and one-sided properties.
Color Density Determines the density of the color on the simulated surface. Color Density affects the color saturation with the Solid option enabled. The more dense the surface, the deeper the color.
