Coolant Input PropertyManager

The Coolant Input boundary condition defines multiple inlets and outlets for complex cooling circuits.

To open the Coolant Input PropertyManager:
  • In the Plastics CommandManager, click Boundary Conditions, and click Coolant Input .

The Coolant Input boundary condition is available with SOLIDWORKS Plastics Premium.

You apply the Coolant Input condition to cooling channels defined in terms of sketches or solid bodies, and for both shell and solid analysis procedures. The software considers all side passages without inlets or outlets as dead ends. Define at least one inlet and one outlet per cooling channel system.

Coolant Parameters

Inlet Specifies inlet locations. For cooling channels specified with sketch lines, select the points defining the inlet end of the sketch lines. For cooling channels defined with solid bodies, select the faces defining the inlet end of the bodies.
Outlet Specifies outlet locations. For cooling channels specified with sketch lines, select the points defining the outlet end of the sketch lines. For cooling channels defined with solid bodies, select the faces defining the outlet end of the bodies.
Flow Rate Specifies the volumetric flow rate.
Total Pressure Specifies the inlet total pressure. This is a gauge pressure, meaning that the outlet static pressure is 0 MPa or 0 psi.
Inlet Temperature Specifies the inlet flow temperature.
