Destination folder
|
Specifies where Sync creates translated files:
-
Output files are saved in the same folder as the original files
-
Output files are all saved in the following folder
|
Overwrite choice
|
Specifies the behavior when the output file already exists (for example, created by a previous translation):
-
Always overwrite - Overwrites the existing file
-
Never overwrite - Skips the translation.
-
Ask user - Displays a prompt window, even when performing scheduled (batch) translations.
|
Time out
|
Specifies the maximum translation duration. If a translation does not complete within this time, Sync stops the translation and begins the next one.
Use this setting to protect against stuck translations. However, setting a short time-out period might interrupt long but successful translations.
|
CAD output formats
|
Specifies the Composer and CAD formats to which the input files are translated.
Notes:
- For information about Composer file formats, see
About Composer File Types.
- For a list of supported formats, see
About Supported Import Formats.
- For a matrix of supported input and output format combinations, see Sync Conversion
. For example:
- You cannot convert SOLIDWORKS documents to other CAD formats, such as STEP or IGES.
- You cannot convert polygonal formats to CAD formats.
- For PDF export, set options on the
PDF Configuration page. See PDF Configuration.
- The
Fully shattered option:
-
Generates
fully shattered Composer file structure consisting of multiple
.smgXml files for product structure and
.smgGeom files for geometry.
- Is obeyed when
Composer (.smgXml + .smgGeom) is the
only output format selected.
- Is valid for SOLIDWORKS,
and Pro/ENGINEER input files only.
-
Requires that you select all assembly and part files on the Files page the first time you generate fully shattered structure. For subsequent incremental updates, select only the assemblies or parts that have changed.
- Produces improper results when converting an assembly that contains
multiple instances of the same part with different configurations.
Indeed, fully shattered assemblies reference the last saved
configuration of its parts. If your assembly uses multiple
configurations of a part, then it displays the last saved
configuration for all instances of the part.
- If you selected Remove Occluded Actors setting in the Repair/Refinement conversion properties, and you choose Composer (.smgXml + .smgGeom) as the output format, it is recommended to select Fully shattered to avoid breaking your product structure. As a result, some parts which should have been hidden will not be, in order to preserve the fully shattered product structure.

Vector image output formats
|
Specifies output formats for vector images:
Set options on the
Image Configuration page.
See Image Configuration. |
Raster image output formats
|
Specifies output formats for raster images:

Image Configuration page. See Image Configuration. |
Update .smg or .smgXml files
|
Updates Composer
.smg or
.smgXml files selected on the Files page with any changes in their
associated CAD (or Composer) files. This option has no effect on other files types.
Updating preserves all 3D scene enrichments and animations.
Sync updates using the CAD files from which the Composer files were generated. The paths to these files are stored in the Composer files. To update based on a file other than the original CAD file or to update a portion of a model instead of the entire model, use Composer.
For details about updating, including limitations, see the
Update Composer Document command in Composer Help.
