Editing Alternate Position Views - Assemblies

In assembly drawings, you can replace an alternate position configuration with an existing configuration from the assembly model, or you can define a new configuration on the fly.

In addition the procedure below, you can also edit alternate position views by doing one of the following:
  • In the assembly model, edit a configuration.
  • In the drawing, in the FeatureManager design tree, right-click any of the Alternate Position Views and click Hide or Show.

To edit an alternate position view:

  1. In the FeatureManager® design tree:
    1. Expand Sheet , and then expand the Drawing View that contains the alternate position view to change.
    2. Right-click Alternate Position and click Edit Feature.
  2. In the PropertyManager, under Configuration, choose either:
    Option Description
    Existing configuration Lets you select an existing assembly configuration to replace the one used in the selected alternate position view. Select a configuration from the list.
    New configuration Lets you add a new configuration in the assembly model. The name of the current configuration of the alternate position view appears in the box. Enter a name for the new configuration you want to create.
  3. Click .
    The results are either:
    • Existing configuration - The position of the selected configuration appears in the drawing view, and the PropertyManager closes. The view is complete. No further steps are required.
    • New configuration - If the assembly document is not already open, it opens automatically. The assembly's view orientation changes to that of the drawing view. The assembly appears with the Move Component PropertyManager open and Free Drag activated. Continue to Step 4.

  4. Use any of the Move Component tools to move the assembly components to the required position.
    In the PropertyManager, under Options, you can use Collision Detection and Stop at collision to stop motion.

  5. Click to close the Move Component PropertyManager and return to the drawing.
    The alternate position of the new assembly configuration appears in the drawing view, and the Alternate Position PropertyManager closes.
