Moving Lights

You can move a light in a scene using the transform manipulator. You can also use the manipulator to rotate and scale a light.

To move a light using the transform manipulator:

  1. In the Palette, on the Scenes tab, under Lights, select a light to move.
  2. On the toolbar, click Object Manipulation Tools > Transform .

The transform manipulator features an additional gray axis, indicating the direction of the light. A white ring lets you rotate the light, while a yellow circle on the light marks its position.

  3. To move a light with the manipulator, do one of the following:
    • Drag the blue ring by 22.5º to rotate the light around the Z-axis.
    • Drag the green ring to rotate the light 90º around the Y-axis.
    • Drag the gray arrow to bring the light closer to the look-at point until the light icon is within view.
  4. To transform a light and a target, such as a model or individual part:
    1. Click the yellow circle on the light to switch the position of the manipulator and the circle.

    2. Right-click an axis arrow on the light to move both the light and the target model simultaneously.
