Using the Transform Manipulator

You can modify various assets in your project using the transform manipulator. This tool lets you move, scale, and rotate assets, including models, individual parts, textures, decals, lights, and cameras.

Use the following handles in the tool to manipulate a model:

A Axis
B Cube
C Plane
D Ring
The handles on the tool change based on the selected asset. When you drag a handle, the rest of the manipulator stays hidden until you finish the modification. For example, when scaling a model with a cube, the other handles hide, letting you focus on scaling the model.

To use the transform manipulator with a model:

  1. On the toolbar, click Selection Tool > Model .
  2. In the 3D Viewport, select the target model.
  3. On the toolbar, click Object Manipulation Tools > Transform.
The transform manipulator appears on the model.
  4. Move, rotate, and scale the model using the following actions:
    Action Transform Manipulator Description
Move a model Select an axis and drag the model along the axis.
When working with a light and wanting to move both the light and the target model at once:
    1. Click the yellow circle on the light to switch the position of the manipulator and the yellow circle.
    2. Right-click an axis arrow on the light to move both the light and the target model simultaneously.
    See Moving Lights.
Use the green, red, or blue planes to move a model in those planes.
Rotate a model Select a ring around an axis and drag it to rotate the model around the axis.
Scale a model Select a red, green, or blue cube to scale a model along the axis. Use the yellow cube in the middle of the manipulator to scale a model uniformly.

See Object Manipulation Tools for more examples on moving, rotating, scaling, and pivoting a model.
