In
this exercise, you assign manufacturer parts, manually enter manufacturer parts, and create
a manufacturer part from the catalog. You also use the Electrical Content Portal to download
a manufacturer part from a catalog.
This exercise is based on the electrical project that you created
in
Exercise 6. If you did not complete it,
you can download
this electrical project file and
unarchive it in SOLIDWORKS Electrical.
For reference while following this exercise, open, or download and print
this PDF document.
Assigning Manufacturer Parts
To assign manufacturer parts:
- In the left pane, on the Documents tab, open the

- Electrical
scheme
file.
- On the Components tab,
expand L1 - TGBT, right-click =F1-F1, and click Assign manufacturer parts to find the components to
reference.
- In the dialog box, on the Filters tab, under Manufacturer
part, for Manufacturer,
select LEGRAND, clear Automatic refresh,
and
click Search
.
- From the results, click
Number 4, Reference 021405, then in the lower middle panel, click to add the selected
manufacturer part.
- Click Select.
- Repeat steps 2 through 5 to assign manufacturer parts
=F1-H1 and =F1-H2 (under LC -
Control Panel) to LEGRAND.
- On the Components tab,
right-click L1 - TGBT and click
Assign manufacturer parts, then
click Search.
- From the results, select
Number 3, Reference 09113, and click .
- In the left pane, on the Filters tab, for Class,
click the three
dots.
- In the
Class selector dialog box,
under
Boxes, cabinets, click Ducts and click Select.
- In the Manufacturer part
selection dialog box, click Search
.
- From the results, select Number
1, Reference AK2GD5050,
Manufacturer Scheider Electric.
- In the lower-left pane, type
6 for
Quantity
and click .
- On the Filters tab, for
Class, click the three
dots.
- In the dialog box:
- Click Rails and Select.
- Click Search
.
- From the results, select Reference
009213, specify the Quantity as
3, and click .
- Click Close.
- Under
, select components 1,
2, 3, and 4,
right-click
and click Assign manufacturer
parts.
- In the dialog box, click Search
, and from the
results,
select item Number 7, Reference
010500220, and
Manufacturer Entrelec.
- Click and
click Select.
Manually Entering Manufacturer Parts
You manually enter a part for the EV1 component.
To manually enter manufacturer parts:
- Open the file

scheme.
- Right-click the EV1 component as shown in the
video
and click Component properties.
- In the dialog box, on the Manufacturer part and circuits tab, click Create manufacturer part
.
- In the Manufacturer part
properties dialog box, on the Properties tab:
- Under General,
for Reference, type
56356.
- For Manufacturer, select Siemens.
- Under Description, for Description (English), type
Variator.
- On the Circuits,
terminals tab:
- In the top Circuits pane, select item Number 3, Reversing switch
contact.
- In the bottom Terminals pane, under Mark, for Index
items 0, 1, and 2, type
11, 12, and 14.
- Click OK.
- When the system prompts you to add a manufacturer part, click
Only for this
component
and click OK.
The part is available only for this component. It is not
stored in the catalog.
Creating a Manufacturer Part from the Catalog
- Open the file

and on the Library tab of the
CommandManager, click Manufacturer parts
manager
.
- In the dialog box, in the left pane, on the Classification tab, under Starter, click Reversing switches, then click Add
manufacturer part
.
- In the Manufacturer part
properties dialog box:
- On the Properties tab:
- Under General, for Reference, type
123456.
- For Manufacturer,
type
Training.
- For Library, select USER - User Objects created by user.
- For Description
(English), type
Contactor circuit breaker
reverser.
- Under Illustration, for Scheme, click the three dots, and in the
Symbol selector dialog
box, select Contactor ciruit-breaker
reversing switch, Symbol name TR-TELE006, then click Select.
- Under Size, type:
- Width

- Height

- Depth

- On the Circuits,
terminals tab:
- Under Circuits, click Add
multiple
.
- In the Add circuits
to manufacturer parts dialog box, click
Add
.
- In row Number
1, for Circuit
type, select NO
power contact.
- For Number of

3, then click OK to return to the Circuits, terminals tab.
- In the top
Circuits
pane, select each of the three rows one-by-one, then in the
bottom Terminals pane,
specify the Mark values

- Click OK to return to the Manufacturer parts manager dialog box, then
Close it.
- On the Components tab,
right-click L1 - TGBT and click
.
- In the dialog box:
- On the Classification tab, under Starter, select Reversing
switches.
- Click Search.
- From the results list, select Number 2, Reference 123456, then click and Select.
- In the Multiple insertion
dialog box, type
1 for the number of components to
create
and click OK.
- On the Components tab,
right-click the component =F1-K3 and
click Insert symbol.
- In
the PropertyManager, drag the symbol into the lower-right corner of the document
and click to place it.
- To review your work, right-click the symbol and click
Symbol properties.
- In the dialog box, on the Manufacturer part and circuits tab, under Manufacturer parts, verify that you see the
Training part and under Circuits, the three circuits that you
added.
- Click OK.
Downloading from the Electrical Content Portal
In this exercise, you use the Electrical Content Portal (ECP) to
download a manufacturer part from the Leroy Somer catalog.
To download
from the
ECP:
- Click this link to access the ECP.
- Use your email address and the password that you received in
your purchase email to connect to your account or create a new account.
- In Search, type
LS100L and
click
the Series tab.
The
Leroy Somer catalog appears in the results list.
- Click Download and save
the file locally.
The ECP creates a Part.TEWZIP file.
- Use the Manufacturer parts
management tool to unarchive the file.
- Assign the manufacturer part LS100L-4P(2.2) to motors M1 and M2.
You can use the ECP to download individual manufacturer
parts and 2D or 3D footprints for the cabinet layout.
