Datum Identifier Dialog Box

You can use this dialog box to configure datum identifier symbols.

To open the Datum Identifier dialog box:

Do one of the following:

  • On the ribbon, select Mechanical Annotate > Symbols > Datum Identifier > Create.
  • On the menu, click Mechanical Annotate > Symbols > Datum Identifier > Create.
  • Type AM_DatumIdentifier.

Symbol Tab

Datum on far side. Switches between a solid or dashed leader line. A dashed leader line indicates the far side surface.

Available for the ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow surface indicator leaders.

Requirements

Insert symbol Specifies a special character to insert at the current pointer position.
Available for the ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow datum notes.
Identifier Specifies a label for the datum identifier.
The label must have a maximum of two characters and cannot include I, O, or Q.
Datum note Specifies reference datum targets that correspond to one or more points on a surface.

You can specify a series of datum targets separated by commas.

Available for the ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow datum notes.
Thread note Specifies the diameter of a screw or gear to use as the datum.
Available for the ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow thread notes.

Leader and Text Tab

Leader
Arrowhead Specifies the arrowhead to use at the end of the leader line.
Surface Arrowhead Specifies the type of arrowhead to use at the end of the surface indication leader.

Available for the ISO standard and other drafting standards that allow surface indicator leaders.

Edit entity attachment Attaches the datum identifier symbol to an entity.
Surface extension line
Offset from entity Specifies the distance between the extension line start point and the attached entity.
Extension beyond leader Specifies the distance between the leader start point and the extension line start point.

Settings

Opens the Datum and Feature Identifier Settings dialog box where you can specify the default settings for the current drafting standard.
