Importing Loads from SOLIDWORKS Motion

SOLIDWORKS Motion simulates the mechanisms of assemblies with moving components and calculates forces that develop on components during motion.

You must have the SOLIDWORKS Motion software installed on your computer to complete this lesson.

After you run a motion study, you can export to Simulation the forces developed on individual parts to calculate their stresses and displacements. You can export motion loads for one or multiple time frames. Simulation creates a design scenario for each selected time frame populated with motion loads developed at the particular time frame.

In this lesson, you learn to:

  • Define load bearing faces and run a motion analysis study
  • Export loads from SOLIDWORKS Motion to SOLIDWORKS Simulation for multiple time frames
  • Run design scenarios created from motion frames
  • Graph design scenario results and identify critical time instants
