Adding a Force

In an analysis with a beam mesh, you can apply loads and fixtures to joints only.

1. Right-click the External Loads folder and select Force .
2. In the PropertyManager, under Selection:
   1. Click Joints .
   2. Select the joint shown for Joints.
   
3. Select Front from the flyout FeatureManager design tree for Face, Edge, Plane for Direction .
4. Under Units, select English (IPS).
5. Under Force:
   1. Click Along Plane Dir 2 .
   2. Type 64000.
   3. Select Reverse direction so the force points downward.
6. Click .
