Applying Symmetry Restraints

Due to the axial symmetry of the model, all front and back faces of the model are restrained in the normal direction.

Because the angle of the wedge is very small (1o), you apply the restraint type On Flat Faces.
To apply a Symmetry restraint, you have to create a wedge with a 90o angle.

To apply restraints:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the Fixtures icon and select Advanced Fixtures.
  2. In the PropertyManager, under Advanced, select On Flat Faces.
  3. On the Standard Views toolbar, click Front , then click the three front faces of the model.
  4. On the Standard Views toolbar, click Back , then click the three back faces of the model.
  5. Under Translations, set Normal to Face to 0.
  6. In the PropertyManager, click .
