Activating the Large Displacement Option and Running the Study

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the study and select Properties.
    The Static dialog box appears.
  2. Check Large displacement.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Right-click the study again and select Run.
The analysis starts. Due to the activation of the Large displacement option, the analysis takes more time than it took in the previous run.
  5. Click Yes if prompted to restart because equilibrium satisfaction is not achieved.
When you use the Large displacement option, the software applies loads in increments. If equilibrium satisfaction is not achieved, the software is not able to apply the fully prescribed displacement. When you click Yes, you allow the software to restart from the point where it stopped and continue incrementing the prescribed displacement to its full value.
  6. After the analysis completes, the von Mises stress plot is displayed.
