For shell models, it is important to check damage at the top and bottom faces of the shell.
-
Right-click the TopFace
study tab and click Copy Study.
-
In the
PropertyManager:
-
Enter BottomFace
for the study name.
-
Click
.
-
In the BottomFace study
tree, right-click BottomFace
and click Properties.
- In the dialog box, set the Shell face to Bottom and click OK.
- Run the BottomFace study.
The Damage plot is displayed.

The plot shows that
the maximum damage factor is 0.36%.
The static
studies are solved based on small displacements assumption. To evaluate the
accuracy of the results, check the Large
displacement flag for all static studies and rerun the
fatigue studies. The difference between the damage plot results is minor.
No interaction was assumed between fatigue
events. If events can occur simultaneously in a random way, you can activate
the Random interaction option in the
Properties of the Fatigue studies and run them again. The damage is higher
than that caused by No interaction.
Congratulations! You have completed this lesson.
