Checking Mesh Compatibility

To check the mesh compatibility at the touching edges of the two bodies, zoom in the area as shown. Notice that the elements at the touching edges share common mesh nodes.

A compatible mesh is more accurate than an incompatible mesh at the interface regions.

Notice the area of stress concentration at the interface region of the scoop and handle when incompatible mesh is used.

If you use an incompatible mesh, define surface to edge bonded contact between the two bodies. For a compatible mesh, the bonded contact condition is enforced by default.

Congratulations! You have completed this lesson.
