Viewing Stress Results Along Transverse Direction You view the stress results along the transverse to ply angle direction for selected plies. To plot stress along the transverse direction for the top face of the third ply, in the Simulation study tree, right-click the Results folder and click Define Stress Plot . In the PropertyManager, under Display: Select SY: Y Normal Stress in Component . Select N/mm^2 (MPa) in Units . Select Top in Shell face . Under Composite Options: Set Ply number to 3. Select Display results in cross-ply direction on composite surfaces. Click . The stress along the transverse direction is shown for the top face of the third ply. To plot stress along the transverse direction for the bottom face of the fourth ply: Repeat steps 1-3, select Bottom in Shell Face , and set Ply number to 4. Click . The stress on the top face of the third ply and the bottom face of the fourth ply, in general, are not equal even though they represent the same location. This is due to the difference in material orientations between the third and fourth plies.
