Modifying an Equation from the Modify Dialog Box

When you change a dimension value in the Modify dialog box, the value is automatically updated in the model and in the Equations, Global Variables and Dimensions dialog box. Next, you view the pin head diameter dimension and modify the base length from the Modify dialog box.

  1. In the FeatureManager design tree, click Boss-Extrude1.
  2. Double-click the pin head thickness dimension, D1@Boss-Extrude1.
You can rotate the model if you do not see the dimension.
  3. In the Modify dialog box, modify the dimension equation as follows and press Tab:
    "Pin Shaft Diameter" / 1.7in
When you enter the equation, you can refer to global variables, functions, and units, the same as you do in the Equations, Global Variables, and Dimensions dialog box. Pressing Tab saves the modifications to the equation.
  4. Click and close the Dimension PropertyManager if it is open.
  5. In the FeatureManager design tree, right-click the Equations folder and click Manage Equations.
The Equations, Global Variables, and Dimension dialog box displays the new value for the D1@Boss-Extrude1 dimension.
  6. Click OK to close the Equations, Global Variables, and Dimension dialog box, and save the model.

Congratulations! You have completed this tutorial.
