Layergroup Manager Dialog Box

The Layergroup Manager dialog box lets you manage layergroups and layer properties.

The dialog box appears when you use the AM_Layergroup command.

Layergroup Dialog Box Elements

Dialog Box Toolbar

You can use the following toolbar buttons:

Function Icon Description
Create Creates a layergroup. You can rename the layergroup as soon as it is created.
Delete Deletes the selected layergroup.
Activate Determines the selected layergroup as the active layergroup.
Check Lets you select entities and determine on which layers and layergroups they are drawn.
The dialog box temporarily closes so that you can specify entities in the graphics area. After you specified entities, press Enter to return to the dialog box.
In the dialog box, the layers and layergroups on which the specified entities are located are highlighted.
Move into... Moves entities to the selected layer or layergroup.

Note: If you selected only a layergroup and no layer, the entities are moved to the layer corresponding to its current layer in the selected layergroup.
Highlight entities Highlights the entities on the currently selected layers and layergroups.
If you selected a layergroup in the corresponding list, all the entities on that layergroup highlight. If you selected a layer in the corresponding list, only the entites on that layer highlight.
The dialog box temporarily hides so that you can see the highlighted entities. Press Enter to return to the dialog box.
Visibility enhancement Displays the Visibility Enhancement dialog box. The dialog box lets you assign a specific color to all layergroups that are not current and/or locked.

Show/Hide layer definitions Hides or shows all Mechanical layer definitions in the layers list.

 

The following functions are also availabe in the toolbar area:

Function Description
Filter expression Filters the list of layergroups according to the name you have entered.
Filter type Lets you filter the list of layers based on the entity types that specific layers use.
Current layer Displays the name of the current layer.

 

Layergroups List

The following columns are available in the Layergroups list:

Column Description
Status An arrow icon indicates that the layergroup is the current layergroup.
Name Displays the name of the layergroup. Click on the name to have the option to rename the layergroup.
Freeze Indicates whether the layergroup is frozen or thawed. Click to toggle the Freeze/Thaw status.
Lock Indicates whether the layergroup is locked or unlocked. Click to toggle the Lock/Unlock status.
LineColor Displays the LineColor associated with a layergroup. Click to select a different LineColor.
LineStyle Displays the LineStyle associated with a layergroup. Click to select a different LineStyle.
LineWeight Displays the LineWeight associated with a layergroup. Click to select a different LineWeight.
Print Indicates whether the layergroup is printed or not. Click to toggle the print status of that layergroup.

 

Right-click menu items in the Layergroups list that are not available as toolbar buttons:

Menu Option Description
Use as Selection Set Selects all the entities on the specified layergroup as part of a selection set. Use the Previous option when promted to specify entities in a subsequent editing command to apply the selection set.
Select All Selects all list items.
Clear All Deselects all list items.
Invert Selection Selects all list items, except those that are currently selected.

 

Layers Created List

The following columns are available in the Layers created list:

Column Description
Status An arrow icon indicates that the layer is the current layer.
Name Displays the name of the layer. Click on the name to have the option to rename the layer.
Freeze Indicates whether the layer is frozen or thawed. Click to toggle the Freeze/Thaw status.
Lock Indicates whether the layer is locked or unlocked. Click to toggle the Lock/Unlock status.
Print Indicates whether the layergroup is printed or not. Click to toggle the print status of that layergroup.
Description Contains an optional description of the layer.

 

Right-click menu items in the Layers created list that are not available as toolbar buttons:

Menu Option Description
Convert to Mechanical layer Makes the selected layer a Mechanical layer.
Use as Selection Set Selects all the entities on the specified layer as part of a selection set.
Select All Selects all list items.
Clear All Deselects all list items.
Invert Selection Selects all list items, except those that are currently selected.

 

Delete Layergroup Dialog Box

This dialog box lets you remove entities from the layergroup selected for deletion.

The following options are available:

  • Move the entities to another layergroup
  • Delete entities
List of Entities

Displays the list of Blocks from the layergroup that you specified for deletion.

Delete Selection

Lets you delete the entities specified in the list of entities.

Delete Entities

Deletes specified entities.

Move selected entities to

Lets you move specified entities to another layergroup.

To move selected entities to another layergroup:

  1. In the list, specify the entity to move.
  2. Select Move selected entities to.
  3. Select the layergroup from the drop-down list.
  4. Click Move.
  5. To move another entity, repeat steps 1 to 4.
Layer drop-down list

Lets you specify a layergroup to move the specified entities to.

Move

Moves the specified entities to the layergroup that you specified in the drop-down list.

Visibility Enhancement Dialog Box

The Visibility Enhancement dialog box lets you determine how entities on inactive layergroups appear in the graphics area.

Note:

  • The settings are valid only for the current drawing session.
  • Only entities that have their color property set to ByLayer appear in the color specified in the dialog box.
  • Entities that have their color set to a specific color are not affected by the dialog box settings.
Main Option Secondary Option Description
None Turns off visibility enhancements.
On inactive layergroup Use color Sets the color property of entities on inactive layergroups to the color shown in the adjacent drop-down list.
Use color and lock Changes the color of entities on inactive layergroups to the color shown in the adjacent drop-down list. In addition, the layergroup is locked. You cannot modify entities assigned to them.
Lock Locks inactive layergroups. You cannot modify entities assigned to them.
Freeze Freezes inactive layergroups. The entities on inactive layers are no longer visible.
Use color on locked layergroups Sets the color property of entities on locked or inactive layergroups to the color shown in the adjacent drop-down list.
