About Manufacturer Parts

Manufacturer parts are managed within a catalog. You can add to this catalog to meet your needs. Every component managed within SOLIDWORKS Electrical can have one or more manufacturer parts associated with it.

The Manufacturer Parts tab shows the manufacturer parts assigned to a component, as well as its circuit definition.

To open Manufacturer Parts:

  1. Click one of the following:
  • Symbol properties > Manufacturer part and circuits .
  • Terminal properties > Manufacturer part and circuits .
  • Black box properties > Manufacturer part and circuits .
  • PLC properties > Manufacturer part and circuits .
  • Location properties > Manufacturer Part .

Circuits

The circuit definition is not available in the Location Properties dialog box. When you select a manufacturer part from the list, SOLIDWORKS Electrical compares the circuits that comprise the component (symbols) with the circuits contained in the manufacturer part.

Table 1. Color Coding
Green Indicates consistency between the symbol circuits and the manufacturer part circuits.
Red Indicates an inconsistency because certain circuit symbols are not present in the manufacturer parts. Add auxiliaries or modify the component to add symbols within the manufacturer part.
Blue Indicates that the manufacturer part contains circuits not represented in the symbol (reserved circuits).
Yellow Indicates the presence of virtual circuits, which do not appear as symbols or as manufacturer part references (added manually).
Indicates partial consistency with the terminal symbol and manufacturer part.
Indicates partial consistency with the manufacturer part.
Indicates partial consistency with the terminal symbol.
Table 2. Commands
Add virtual circuits Adds a new circuit. A virtual circuit is not present in the manufacturer part or in the symbols.
Delete Virtual Circuit Deletes the selected virtual circuit.
Switch Symbol Ciruit Switches two circuits selected in the list.
Dissociate Symbol Circuit (Green circuits only.) Dissociates circuits by changing the circuit to reserve (blue) and its symbol to red.

Terminal

Displays a list of terminals for the selected circuit.

Table 3. Color Coding
Green Indicates that the component terminals are consistent with the symbol circuits and the manufacturer part.
Red Indicates an inconsistency because certain terminal symbols are missing from the manufacturer parts.
Blue Indicates that the manufacturer part contains a component terminal that is not represented in the symbol (reserved component terminals).
Yellow Indicates the presence of virtual circuits, which do not appear as symbols or as manufacturer part references (added manually).
Table 4. Commands
Edit terminals Edits the terminal number of the selected circuits.
Distribute terminals (Terminals only.) Changes the association between a symbol connection point and a component circuit terminal.
