Creating a New Excel File for Manufacturer Parts

You can create a new Excel file for import and adapt it to the input language and class of the manufacturer part. This ensures better consistency when importing the data.

To create a new Excel file from the template:

  1. Click Library > Manufacturer part management.
  2. In the Manufacturer part management dialog box, click Import > Create Excel file for import .
  3. In the Create new Excel file for manufacturer part import dialog box, select the following:
    Option Description
    File language Lets you select the language from the list. The default language corresponds to the interface language.

    The list contains the 14 languages that correspond to the interface languages.

    Description/Translatable data languages Lets you add description in multiple languages.

    Click to open the Language selector dialog box to select multiple languages

    Class Lets you open the Class selector dialog box and select the base class for the manufacturer part.

    If you do not select any class then all the classes and subclasses are available in the Excel file.

    Template available Lets you select the Excel file found in the template folder.
    Fill with displayed manufacturer parts Lets you fill the excel file with the manufacturer parts displayed in the Manufacturer parts management dialog box.
    Class is disabled when this option is selected, as a file can contain multiple classes.
    Open created Excel file Lets you open the created template.
  4. Click OK.
  5. In the Save As dialog box, save the new Excel file in the required location. The file opens automatically.
  6. Edit the data in the Excel file to import the new data to the manufacturer part.
    • Reference and Manufacturer are the mandatory fields for the successful import of the data.
    • Class, Library, Type etc. are required fields. If you leave these fields empty, the software warns you and imports the data with errors.
    • Article Number, External ID, Translatable data, etc. are optional fields. If you leave these fields empty, no errors occur.
    • Column A (can be hidden) contains key code, for example, to identify the language of the header.
    • The last row of the header (which can be hidden) contains the name of fields associated with columns like #car_reference. Do not remove this information.
    • The hidden page _ValidationList_ contains the named range used to show list items in some columns, based on the Excel feature Data Validation.
    • You can add more columns for translated data to enter more languages at the same time. Modify the language code in the field name, like .en in #trc_0.en for part description.
