Inserting Connectors

You can insert a connector from the Schematic menu or from the dockable panel.

  • To access Insert connector, do one of the following:
    • Click Schematic > Insert connector .
    • Right-click a symbol in the scheme and select Component > Insert connector .
    A dialog box containing the following options opens.
    Option Description
    Create a new connector Opens the Manufacturer part selection dialog box to search for a new manufacturer part.
    Select existing connector Opens the component selector. Select the component and click Select.
    Continue to insert connector previously added Available only if a connector is not completely inserted. Select this option to finish insertion.
  • To access Insert connector from the dockable panel, right-click a connector mark and click Components > Insert connector.

    Since the connector is already selected, available options appear on the dockable panel.

    Option Description
    Pins the command, ensuring that it remains active after it is first used.
    Stops the command after it is first used to insert a symbol.
    Ends the command.

Select Configuration

In the list, the following options appear:
Option Description
<Select symbol to insert> The connector is represented by one symbol you can choose in the symbol selector.
Configuration files The graphical representation is automatically done according to the selected configuration file.

Select Symbol to Insert

Available only if you select <Select symbol to insert> in the previous section.

The last symbol inserted is displayed in the side panel. Click Other symbol to select another symbol in the symbol selector. Click on a point in the graphical interface to insert it.

Options

Available only if you choose a Dynamic connector with (or without) pin symbol configuration file.
Option Description
Hide background Select to hide the entities drawn under the connector by a wipeout.
Use rounded corners Select to replace the left and right corners by a fillet.
Zig-zag management If all circuits of the connector are not inserted, you can display a specific line indicating that the representation of the connector is not complete.

Select Circuits to Draw

  Option Description
Filter Filters the list of circuits based on the selected options from the following list.
  • All
  • Not inserted
  • Inserted
  • Selected
  • Not selected
Move up Moves the selected circuit up.
Move down Moves the selected circuit down.
Maximum number of circuits Displays the maximum number of circuits to insert and lets you specify the value or adjust it using the up and down icons.
Limit the number of circuits
  • Unlocked. Disables the specified value and allows circuit selection with no limit.
  • Locked. Enables the specified value and allows you to update it, but limits circuit selection to the specified values.

    When the number of selections matches the specified value, clear the existing selection before making a new one.

Select circuits Opens the Select circuits to draw dialog box. For more information, see Select Circuits to Draw Dialog Box.

  • Circuit state
  • Check box used to select the pins to be inserted
  • Circuit description
  • Symbol
  • Terminal number
  • Pin mnemonic
  • Pin utilization
  • Pin group number

Symbol Orientation

Select the option or right-click to change the orientation of the symbol.
