Standard Cables and Tubes

You can create a library of standard cables and tubes. The information for standard cables and tubes is stored in an Excel spreadsheet. The Standard Cables and Tubes PropertyManager appears when you insert a standard cable or tube into an assembly, add items to the library, or delete items from the library.

A sample Excel file is located at <install_dir>\data\design library\routing\standard cables and tubes.xls. You can add your own cables and tubes to the sample file or create a new Excel file based on the sample file format.

To insert a standard cable or tube:

  1. Click Electrical, Standard Cables.

  2. In the PropertyManager:

    1. Under Filename, browse to the Excel file that defines your standard cables and tubes.

    2. Select Cables or Tubes.

    3. Under Available Cables (or Available Tubes), select the cable or tube to be inserted.

    4. Click Insert Cable (or Insert Tube).

  3. Place the cable or tube in the assembly.

To add a cable or tube to the library:

  1. Click Electrical, Standard Cables.

  2. In the PropertyManager:

    1. Under Filename, browse to the Excel file that defines your standard cables and tubes.

    2. Select Cables or Tubes.

    3. Click Add New Cable (or Create Tube).

    4. Specify the definition of the cable or tube to be inserted.

    5. Click .

    6. Repeat steps a - c to add more cables or tubes.

  3. Click .

The new cables and tubes are added to the Excel file.

To delete a cable or tube from the library:

  1. Click Electrical, Standard Cables.

  2. In the PropertyManager:

    1. Under Filename, browse to the Excel file that defines your standard cables and tubes.

    2. Select Cables or Tubes.

    3. Select the cable or tube to be deleted.

    4. Click Delete Cable (or Delete Tube).

    5. Repeat steps a and b to delete other cables or tubes.

  3. Click .

The cables or tubes are deleted from the Excel file.
