Getting File Versions

Use the Get Latest Version or Get Version commands to change the version of a file:

  • Running these commands replaces and overwrites any checked-out version in your working folder with the file from the vault. A message prompts you to accept replacement.

  • These commands are not available if you select Automatically get latest version of files in the Options dialog box.

  • If you use the Get Latest Version command on a folder, all subfolders and files are processed and the latest version of each file is retrieved.

  • For Get Version, cold storage (archived) versions are listed under Versions in Cold Storage in the version list. You cannot retrieve versions from cold storage.

To get a version of a file:

Right-click the file and select Get Latest Version or Get Version and select the version to copy to your working folder.

To retrieve files with references:

If the files you are retrieving contain references to other files, the Get dialog box appears when you click Get Version or Get Latest Version.

  1. In the Get dialog box, locate the files you want to retrieve.

The list of files indicates which are available (OK if available) and which are in your local working directory. For a referenced file, the left digit represents the attached version (the version in the working folder when the parent file was most recently checked in) and the right digit shows the latest version of the file. For example, 3/6 means that 3 is the attached version and 6 is the latest available version.

  1. Right-click the file and select options.

  1. Click Get to retrieve the files.
