Quick Start: Building an Assembly

You can build a SolidWorks assembly for a circuit board and its components.

To build the cellphone assembly:

  1. Click Build Model (Tools toolbar).

CircuitWorks warns of seven zero-height components. There would be eight had you not previously defined a height for the 0402C_AVX component.

  2. From the dialog box, click Build.
  3. If prompted to overwrite existing board or component models, click Yes.

The build is complete when the Progress pane displays Process Complete

SolidWorks displays the assembly model. Your display might differ depending on your SolidWorks settings.

Note that some components are detailed models that were already in the Component Library when you installed CircuitWorks, and some are simple blocks that CircuitWorks built using information in the IDF file. If needed, you can replace simple CircuitWorks models in the library with more detailed models that you create in SolidWorks.
