Add Event (Random Vibration) PropertyManager

The Add Event (Random Vibration)PropertyManager defines a fatigue event that is based on stress results as a function of frequency from a Dynamic - Random vibration study.

Available for SOLIDWORKS Simulation Premium.

To open the Add Event (Random Vibration) PropertyManager:

  • Create a fatigue study based on a dynamic random vibration. Right-click Loading (-Random Vibration-) and click Add Event .

Study

Study Select the reference dynamic -random vibration study. Click in this cell to select a study from the drop-down menu.
The list of studies includes the studies that are associated with the currently active configuration only.

Duration

Units of time Sets the units of time in: seconds, minutes, hours, or days for the duration of this event.
Duration Set the total time duration of the random loading input for this fatigue event.

  • Fatigue - Random Vibration PropertyManager

    A frequency-based fatigue analysis is implemented in cases where the loading and response are random processes and therefore are best described using statistical measures.

  • Fatigue for Random Vibration Loading

    Fatigue damage assessment for components that operate in a random vibration environment is estimated in the frequency domain based on the statistical properties of the response stress power spectral density (PSD) function.

  • Creating a Fatigue Study Based on Random Vibration Results

    You can create a fatigue study that is based on stress results (in the form of Power Spectral Density function) from a dynamic - random vibration study.

  • Derivation of Basquin Constants from S-N curve

    From a given material’s fatigue strength S-N curve, you can derive the Basquin equation constants, or let the program calculate the Basquin constants by specifying the number of data points on the S-N curve to include in the curve-fitting calculations.
