Viewing the SOLIDWORKS PDM Log File

SOLIDWORKS PDM events are recorded in a log file. You can use the details of log file error events to troubleshoot problems.

To view the log file, do one of the following:

Location Action
Left pane, Local Settings Double-click Log File, or right-click Log File and click Open.
Menus Click View > Local Log File.
Windows Explorer Navigate to the log file location and double-click the file with the .cog extension.

The default location is:

\Users\username\AppData\Local\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS PDM

Where <user name> is the Windows logon user name on this computer.

The Log File dialog box opens in the right pane.
