Cold Storage Schemas

Create a cold storage schema in a vault to automatically move or delete older file versions from the vault archives. You can opt to set up a schema for all files in the vault or for files under specific folders only.

A schema can specify that project folders contain the most recent versions of a file only and that older versions are deleted from the archive. After deletion, version history is retained.

The Restore option on the File Explorer Get Version menu lets you restore files from cold storage. However, if cold storage was used to delete a file version, it cannot be restored to the archive server.

When a vault is replicated, each replicated server processes cold storage separately. If you want to cold store older files on replicated servers, you must create a cold storage schema for each server.
To ensure that the cold storage schema takes effect immediately, stop and restart the archive server service.
