XPS (XML Paper Specification) Files

You can create XPS (XML Paper Specification) files and open the files in the eDrawings Viewer or XPS Viewer.

The XPS translator is an add-in in the SOLIDWORKS software. In the Add-In dialog box, select SOLIDWORKS XPS Driver to add the XPS format in the Save As dialog box.

The XPS Viewer is available from Microsoft. For information on the XPS viewer, see https://support.microsoft.com.

To save files in XPS format:

  1. Click File > Save As.
  2. For Save as type, select:
    • Microsoft XML Paper Specification (*.eprtx). Part documents.
    • Microsoft XML Paper Specification (*.easmx). Assembly documents.
    • Microsoft XML Paper Specification (*.edrwx). Drawing documents.
  3. Enter a file name and click Save.
