Creating Toolbox BOMs

You can create a Mechanical Toolbox BOM in a drawing after you insert balloons into the drawing. The BOM shows data for the blocks you associate with balloons.

Before you create a Mechanical Toolbox BOM, you must insert balloons into the drawing.
You can also predefine BOM settings such as the header orientation, anchor point, and text style using the Bill of Materials screen of the Settings dialog box.

If you do not modify BOM settings, default settings are used.

  1. Click Create BOM (Mechanical Toolbox toolbar) or Mechanical Toolbox > BOM > Create.
The Command window prompts you to specify the insertion point specified in the Bill of Materials screen of the Settings dialog .
  2. Click in the graphics area where you want to place the BOM.
The BOM appears, showing item numbers, part numbers, descriptions, and quantities.
