Manufacturer parts management: Properties > Circuits, terminals

This tab lets you manage the definition of manufacturer parts in terms of circuits, and the device terminals numbers.

The example above is a definition for a four poles circuit-breaker. You must have four circuits of a Circuit breaker, Switch type. The first circuit in the list corresponds to the element placed on the left of the graphic (when using vertical insertion).

For device terminal numbers, you have two terminals per circuit. The first number corresponds to the upper terminal of the circuit (when using vertical insertion). The second number corresponds to the lower terminal.

Circuits

Add multiple: Opens the circuit addition dialog box to add multiple circuits.

Add: Adds one circuit at the end of the list.

Insert: Adds a new circuit above the selected circuit.

Select the circuit you want from the new circuit list.

Delete: Deletes the selected circuits.

Up / Down: Reorders the circuit order.

Number: Displays the circuit number.

Type: Defines the circuit type.

Terminal marks: Displays the device terminal marks entered in the Terminals section.

Group: Displays the group number (used to group multiple circuits).

Symbol: Displays the name of the symbol associated with the circuit.

In the contextual menu of a circuit, you have two other commands:

Assign symbol: Lets you associate a symbol to the selected circuit. The symbol selector opens allowing you to select a symbol. The symbol must have the same circuit definition.

Remove symbol: Lets you dissociate the circuit/symbol association.

Terminals

Select a circuit to access its terminal marks.

Add: Adds one terminal at the end of the list.

Insert: Adds a new terminal above the selected terminal.

Delete: Deletes the selected terminal.

Up / Down: Reorders the terminal order.

Circuit: Displays the circuit number.

Index: Displays the order of the terminals in the circuit.

Mark: Defines the material terminal number.

Termination type: Select in the list, the termination type associated with the terminal.

Max. wire number: Defines the number of wires or cable cores that you can connect to the material terminal.

Mnemonic: Lets you enter a channel mnemonic (PLC) or personalized text.

Maximum wire section (mm²) / Maximum wire gauge (AWG): Lets you enter the section of the device terminal, corresponding to the maximum section of wires connected to this terminal.

Minimum wire section (mm²) / Minimum wire gauge (AWG): Lets you enter the section of the device terminal, corresponding to the minimum section of wires connected to this terminal.

Managing circuits from another manufacturer part

When you create similar manufacturer parts, you can use the circuit definition of a manufacturer part to copy it on a new manufacturer part. In the manufacturer part management, in the contextual menu of the manufacturer part, you can find specific commands to manage circuits.

Copy circuits: Allows you to copy the circuits of the selected manufacturer part in the SOLIDWORKS Electrical clipboard.

Remove circuits: Deletes the circuits of the selected manufacturer part.

Paste circuits: Allows you to paste the circuits from the SOLIDWORKS Electrical clipboard to the selected manufacturer part.
