Symbol (contextual menu)

This chapter concerns all symbol types, such as Line diagram, schematic, origin-destination symbols. The contextual menu can be different depending on the selected symbol.

 

Symbol properties: Opens the symbol properties dialog box.

Assign component: Assigns the selected symbols to an existing component.

Attributes ►

Edit attributes: Allows you to modify the symbol attributes.

 

Connection point: Allows you to manage the display of the material terminals.

Manages the display of symbol attributes.

 

 

Edit cross references style: Opens the cross references configuration dialog box.

Edit symbol terminals: Opens the dialog box to edit the material terminals of the component.

Symbol ►

Four commands are available in the contextual menu for the symbol, allowing you to edit the symbol in whatever contextual menu has been opened.

Update: Allows the inserted symbol to be updated in relation to its definition in the symbols library.

Replace: Replaces the inserted symbol with another symbol in the library.

Open symbol: Opens the symbol in the modification interface to change its graphics, attributes or connection points.

Add to library: Adds the inserted symbol to the symbols library.

 

 

Component properties: Opens the dialog box allowing you to edit the component and allocate the mark, location and function, enter data specific to the component and allocate a manufacturer part.

Component ►

Change location: Changes the location associated with the symbol.

Change function: Changes the function associated with the symbol.

Insert in terminal strip: Inserts the symbol in a terminal strip. Select the terminal strip in the terminal strip selector.

Assign manufacturer parts: Assigns one or more manufacturer parts to the symbol.

Delete manufacturer parts: Removes manufacturer parts associated with the symbol.

Insert symbol: Allows you to insert a symbol for this component.

Insert connection label for components: Allows you to insert the connection label associated with the component.

Go to ►

Go to browser: Displays in the Components tab, the list of symbols associated with the selected component. This feature will be used if the component is defined by a very large number of symbols

 

The other items allow you to navigate between the different symbols with the same component using cross references.

Cabling ►

Manages cabling and cabling order.

Wire cabling order: Used to produce the cabling order upstream or downstream of the symbol.

Cable core association: Used to produce the cabling upstream or downstream of the symbol.

 

 

 

Add / remove from harness: Allows 3D harness symbol components to be added or removed. In the dockable panel, select Add or remove option and confirm the choice. In Harness Management, select the harness mark.

Orientation ►

Changes the direction of the symbol.

Specific angles (0° / 90° / 180° / 270°)

Free rotation: Use the mouse to turn the symbol.

Invert: Makes a mirror image of the symbol.

 

 

 

Move: Allows you to move the symbol.

Cut: Copies the symbol to the SOLIDWORKS Electrical Clipboard. The symbol is deleted.

Copy: Copies the symbol to the SOLIDWORKS Electrical Clipboard.

Copy with insertion point: Copies the symbol to the SOLIDWORKS Electrical Clipboard and defines the insertion point.

Hyperlink: Creates/Edits a link to an external document.

Delete: Deletes the symbol from the drawing.
