Document Properties - Linear Dimensions

You can specify document-level drafting settings for linear dimensions. Available for all document types.

To open this page:

With a drawing open, click Options (Standard toolbar), select Document Properties, and then select Dimensions > Linear.

Overall drafting standard

Overall drafting standard Inherited from the selected Drafting Standard page settings.

Base linear dimension standard

Base linear dimension standard
Select a standard:
  • ANSI
  • ISO
  • DIN
  • JIS
  • BSI
  • GOST
  • GB

Leader/Dimension line style

Leader Style Select a style.
Leader Thickness Select a thickness or select Custom Size and enter a thickness.

Extension line style

Extension Line Style Select a style.
Extension Line Thickness Select a thickness or select Custom Size and enter a thickness.
Same as leader/dimension line style Select to maintain line style.

Text

Font

Click to modify the font.
Horizontal text justification

Left

Center

Right
Vertical text justification

Top

Middle

Bottom

Dual dimensions

Dual dimensions display Select to display dimensions in dual units.
Show units for dual display Select to display units for the second set of dimensions.
Split when text position is "Solid Leader, Aligned Text" Select to set new linear dimensions with dual dimensions to display split above and below the unbroken dimension line.

Primary precision

Unit Precision Select the number of digits included after the decimal point for the value.
Tolerance Precision Select the number of digits included after the decimal point for the tolerance.

Dual precision

Unit Precision Select the number of digits after the decimal point from the list for the value in the secondary units.
Tolerance Precision Select the number of digits after the decimal point for the tolerance values for the secondary units.

Foreshortened

Automatic  

Automatically applies foreshortening to a linear dimension when the geometry of one end is outside the drawing view.

Options

Tolerance Click to open the Dimension Tolerance dialog box, which controls the dimension tolerance values and the display of noninteger dimensions.

Layer

Layer

(Available if you created layers for the drawing.) Select a layer.
You must select Per Standard for Layer (Layer toolbar) in the drawing view document to apply these layer settings.

Text position

Solid Leader, Aligned Text

Leader display

Use bent leaders Select to use bent leaders with the dimension. (ANSI only).

Chain Dimension

Add overall dimension to chain dimensions Automatically adds an overall dimension when you create a set of chain dimensions. When this option is selected, you can also select:

Add last reference dimension

Automatically adds a final reference dimension when you create a set of chain dimensions.
