Comparison with Small Displacement Formulation

To compare results with small displacement formulation nonlinear analysis:

  1. Create a new nonlinear static study.
  2. Drag the Part, Fixtures, External Loads, Result Options, and Mesh folders into the newly created study.
  3. Right-click the study and select Properties. In the Nonlinear - Static dialog box, clear Use large displacement formulation.
  4. Run the study.
  5. Plot the resultant displacements with true scaling.

    The generated figure is shown below. It shows how inadequate the small displacement formulation is in this case.
