Setting Properties of the Study

You specify some parameters to control the solution.

To set the properties of the study:

  1. In the Simulation study tree, right-click the study icon and select Properties.
  2. In the Nonlinear - Static dialog box, on the Solution tab, in the Stepping options box, do the following:
    1. Make sure End time is set to 1.
    2. Under Time increment, make sure Automatic (autostepping) is selected.
    3. Set the Initial time increment to 0.1.
    4. Make sure 1.e-8 and 0.1 are set for the Min and Max boxes respectively.
The total number of steps in this case will be determined by autostepping.
  3. In the Geometry nonlinearity options box, make sure Use large displacement formulation is selected.
  4. Under Solver Selection:
    1. Make sure Automatic is selected.
    2. Click Advanced Options.
  5. In the Nonlinear - Static dialog box, on the Advanced tab, in the Method box, make sure Control is set to Force and Iterative technique is set to NR (Newton-Raphson).
  6. In the Step/Tolerance options box:
    1. Make sure Convergence tolerance is set to 0.001.
    2. Set the Singularity elimination factor (0-1) to 0.
  7. Click OK.
