Defining Preserved Regions

You define the part regions to preserve during optimization.

During optimization, the software always preserves the faces to which you apply fixtures and loads. You specify a radius for the preserved area around the faces where you applied fixed restraints to ensure that there is adequate material around the holes for the bolt heads.

  1. In the Optimization study tree, right-click Manufacturing Controls , and select Add Preserved Region .
  2. In the PropertyManager:
    1. In the graphics area, expand the brake rotor flyout FeatureManager design tree, and under Selection Sets, select fixture.
The six cylindrical faces of the bolt circular pattern appear in Faces for Set 2 .
    2. Select Preserved Area Depth.
    3. For Preserved Area Depth , enter 5.
    4. Click Geometry Preview .
The preserved regions of the model are highlighted in the graphics area. The model is shown in an Isometric view orientation.
