Defining Distributed Mass

The liquefied gas in the vessel is not modeled in this lesson. The distributed mass functionality is used to simulate its effect. The mass of the liquefied gas is 700 lbs.

1. In the Partial-VerticalGravity study, right-click the External Loads folder and select Distributed Mass.
2. For Face for distributed mass , select the five faces shown:
   
3. In the PropertyManager under Total Mass, select English (IPS) for Unit and type 700 lb for Distributed Mass .
4. Click .
   Distributed Mass-1 appears in the External Loads folder.
5. Drag and drop the Distributed Mass-1 to the Partial-HorizontalGravity study tab to add the mass of the liquefied gas to this study as well.
